A digital twin for the manifacturing industry
DIGIMON is a project for the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry, based on digital twin technology. DIGIMON is among the winners of the cascade funding call by Mind4Machines, a project funded by the Horizon 2020 program of the European Union.
The main objective of the call is to fund projects that increase the efficiency and competitiveness of the manufacturing industry through the adoption of digital technologies, in order to facilitate the transition towards increasingly green and intelligent systems.
Managing the flows of incoming and outgoing goods and raw materials is one of the most complex challenges for the manufacturing industry.
Digital twins can help solve this problem, improving the efficiency of the entire production and supply chain.
The technology is based on the virtual representation of a process, a product, or a system. Thanks to digital twins, industries are able to monitor and examine the entire value chain in real-time, optimizing production processes.
DIGIMON will implement a digital twin of the production and supply chain of Bordoni Bonfiglio, an Italian SME operating in the metallurgical sector.
The goal is to map out the most energy-intensive production processes and provide manufacturing companies with a system to help them reduce energy costs. The project will also enable the company to identify and manage computer risks.
